      • Vienna
Vienna is a city with all services on hwy 123 in Northern Virginia in Fairfax County, and a suburb of Washington DC. I remember long ago Vienna was a nice small quiet residential town.
        Vienna, VA 22180, USA
      • Reston
It was long ago when Reston Ave. was just a dirt road to nowhere in Fairfax County. US silly high school kids used to drag race our parents V-8 cars there. Things changed for the better when they planned very well before construction started. Reston was built to be a special country home with tall trees; loaded with great walking and bike trails. You could now visit this place in many moons.
        Reston, VA, USA
      • Falls Church
Falls Church is a city with all services centered on hwy 7 in Northern Virginia near Washington DC. I expect the auto traffic is very bad there.
        Falls Church, VA, USA
      • Fairfax
Fairfax, Virginia, is a small city in Northern Virginia. Originally known as Fairfax Court House, it is home to the burgeoning Fairfax County Court House complex. Yet, it is not part of surrounding Fairfax County. (All incorporated cities in Virginia are indenpendent, they are not under any county jurisdiction.) Fairfax is also home to to George Mason University, one of the largest Virginia public universities.

Fairfax was a small easy going town from long ago. On a cold winter day you could lay down on US Hwy 50 center stripe for minutes without any traffic. Now its a typical very busy suburb of Washington DC...still a nice place to live.

      • Herndon
Herndon, Virginia is a large city in Northern Virginia, I suspect it was created by wealthy influential landowners. It encompasses Dulles International Airport and Reston. Reston is home to many LARGE software development companies - think Accenture, Oracle, SAP, Computer Associates, Nextel, etc. etc.

Most significant about Herndon - it is the best connecting city for Washington DC and Dulles Airport. To reach DC you could leave your car at the Park & Ride for free. You could also take a short ride by taxi to the park and ride. After that you can take a fast take a fast commuter bus to DC or to West Falls Church metro station.

With a very large residential community, this is not a mecca for party-goers, rather it morphs into a bedroom community after office hours.

Several fine dining options, hotels, shopping centers, Malls are also found in this area.

      • Chantilly
Chantilly, Virginia, is located in Northern Virginia, in western Fairfax County, right on the border with Loudon County. Chantilly is probably best known to travelers as the site of Washington Dulles International Airport. But it is also home to many high-tech companies along the Dulles Technology Corridor. AOL is but one Internet company that has its headquarters here. The Dulles Expo and Conference Center on Route 28 is the site of many trade and hobby shows. Whether you are into model trains, crafting, or computers, there will be a show here for you.

Is there any history here among all this glass and concrete? Yes, the Fairfax County Park Authorty operates two nearby interpretive sites: Colvin Run Mill and Sully.

      • Springfield
Springfield, Virginia, is a suburban community 17 miles south of Washington, DC. It’s not an incorporated city, but politically is part of Fairfax County. Springfield residents nevertheless have a strong community identity characterized by the neighborhood in which they live: Central Springfield, North Springfield, or West Springfield.

Springfield has long been a transportation hub and gateway to the Nation’s Capital. The Franconia-Springfield Metro station in Central Springfield affords all-day parking and convenient Metro transportation for visitors to Washington. It’s also convenient to shopping at Springfield Mall and nearby specialty stores. The massive Springfield Interchange, where Interstate Highways 95 from Richmond and Baltimore, 495 from Tyson’s Corner, and 395 from Washington all converge in the “Mixing Bowl,” brings in highway travelers from near and far. You might visit Springfield if you are traveling along Interstate 95 and stop for a meal or an overnight stay.

Springfield’s population is diverse. You’ll find "mom-and-pop" ethnic restaurants and stores in Central Springfield and good Asian cuisine and Greek-style “family restaurants” in all parts of the community.

Founded in 1854 as a railway stop, Springfield does have a history, though one must carefully seek it out amid the suburban facade. Parks like Lake Accotink Park and Hidden Pond Nature Center preserve natural habitats and provide outdoor recreation spots for residents.

        • Amazing place! Great people to direct traffic and civilians to where they need to go. Security is always attentive, which gives you a very strong sense of security. The theatre is clean and very modern. Overall, a place everyone should go to, to enjoy their time and hear amazing music!
        • I've seen a few shows at Wolf Trap over the years and have always had a fantastic experience all the way around. For starters, the Filene Center amphitheater itself is gorgeous. It blends in beautifully with the nature around it. The acoustics of the all-wood amphitheater are exquisite. Though I've only ever sat in the assigned seating, the lawn still looks enjoyable! Staff and security are always on top of things before, during, and after every show. The only recommendation I could make is to eat before going to an event at Wolf Trap as the food and drinks tend to be on the pricey side. All in all, Wolf Trap is a wonderful amphitheater and a pleasure to attend any event at!
        • Wolf Trap is one of our family's favorite local places for concerts. It's a (relatively) small venue, with the main stage designed as an amphitheater (ground, balcony and lawn seating). They host a variety of acts throughout the summer, with both free and paid concerts. The grounds are beautiful, with picnic areas outside of the gated area, and they allow food and drink on the lawn. Nothing except for water is allowed in the seating area, so don't plan on bringing anything to your seats. If you do plan to get lawn seats, you should be aware that the hill has a decent slope, and they don't allow chairs below a certain line (basically the upper lip of the amphitheater). You should also plan on getting to the grounds a bit early. Lawn space is first come, first serve, and popular concerts tend to fill the lawn quickly. Overall, it's a great venue, and the variety has been getting a lot better over the last few years. If you are a local, you should definitely give Wolf Trap a shot.
        • What an amazing concert venue! We came here for the annual holiday sing along at the Filene Center. There was plenty of parking and hundreds of people. Everyone was there to have a good time and enjoy the holiday spirit. I am definitely going to come back for a concert when it's warmer out. You are allowed to bring outside food and drink (including alcohol) to the Filene Center, so keep that in mind!
        • I have seen tons of shows here. I will definitely recommend the covered amphitheatre seating because buying tickets 2 months in advance makes planning for weather rather difficult. With that said, the lawn seating is a great spot for a night time picnic that you can bring your own alcohol to. Great shows for reasonable prices and a fun woodsy vibe.
