It used to have a ferry connection to Sweden but after the construction of Øresund, the bridge connecting Amager and Sweden, the ferry service shut down.

In old days was the situation of Dragør based on the fishing and sailing which all the way up until 100 years ago was the reason of it existence. Already back in year 1350 was the site a merchant place for selling herrings and was already then sanctioned by the king. Especially in the days of The Hanseatic League’ herring fishing every fall attracted up to 30.000 foreign merchants and that had a huge influence of the development of the village.

When the herring fishing stopped in around year 1500 the first house were established close to the coast; it was mainly local fishermen who settled here. At the same time the area was officially handed over to Dutch settlers who were living in the neighboring village of Store Magleby.

    • Malmö
Malmö is the third largest city in Sweden and was founded in 1275 while the most southern province of Sweden (Scania - Skåne) was still Swedish (It then belonged to Norway and Denmark for a long time). The population today is about 280 000 people and rapidly growing. After some big problems in the city during the 80s and early 90s the city today is booming, all thanks to the new bridge connection between Sweden and Denmark, one of the worlds longest bridges. Malmö is referred to as the City of Parks since the whole city is filled with different Parks, even the whole beach area is a giant Park.

When visiting the beach, don't forget to do Sauna Swedish style and then jump into the sea (all year around) at the Cold Bath House (Kallbadhuset). After the sauna, visit the new harbour areas of Malmö and have a stroll around an amazing area filled with modern architecture, don't miss Calatravas Turning Torso, the highest residential building in Europe. Spend the evening at the wonderful old fashioned Lilla Torg, filled with restaurants or why not at Möllevångstorget if you are more into the alternative scene.

Malmö also offers a lot of cultural events. The Malmö Festival in August is an annual high point of music, dance and other cultural events creating a big citywide party, and with names like Simon Burke and Dolly Parton on the 2008 concert calendar Malmö has also gained its status as a major concert event arena. If you are more into arts and antiques, Malmö satisfies this part of cultural life as well. Come see Malmö!

      • Recently visited with a group of friends. Have to say the food at the hotel is amazing. We stayed in the city tower and the room was of a high quality. The service from staff is second to none and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is about 2 miles from the station so not to far if you feel the need to walk instead of grabbing a taxi. There was 2 events happening over the time we stayed, but we could still easily book a table at the restaurants or grab a seat at the lobby bar.
      • Service was bad. Arrived in taxi; no one to help with luggage from taxi to front desk - not part of the service. Room service meals served in cardboard boxes - just like fast food drive through. Room very small. No space for luggage. My suitcase on floor wedged in between bed and window. Twin beds. Great Japanese restaurant.
      • It can be okay for business stay but avoid when traveling for leisure. It is huge, old-fashioned, close to the railway tracks but far enough for a pleasant walk to the station. Located in the middle of some never completed construction area (see the picture from June 2016) There was a tediously long waiting time for taxi in the morning. The next day when I saw the same queue I rather walked to the train station (10 minutes) and took a train. I suppose, that was still faster (and much cheaper) than a cab ride. At checkout, it took 45 minutes for the receptionist to replace my name to the company's on the invoice. I weren't believing this if it didn't happen to me. Nevertheless, the personnel was really kind and helpful and the breakfast was also good.
      • Great place, has a sexy swimming pool and gym. Everything is great except the tiny rooms and crappy sofa-cum-bed. I really feel sorry for my kids that they have to sleep on that sofa for 4 nights!! Sorry, OBS!!! I forget to tell you that they have awesome, unbelievable, Danish breakfast buffet.
      • Was overnight guest for work purposes. Nice rooms. Co-workers said the facilities were good, but I wasn't there first hand. Fairly centrally located, I still needed to briskly walk to reach the lego store in Copenhagen within 15mins.
