With its close proximity to Jefferson National Forest and the New River, the town is a popular starting point for backpacking, bicycling, whitewater rafting, hiking and camping treks.
Blacksburg is also home to Virginia Tech, a top research and engineering university. Blackburg's population of approximately 41,000 is more than 50% student, and the university's presence can be felt in almost all aspects of the town. It is a popular venue for concerts, stage productions, and research conferences.
During the autumn months, some of the top NCAA teams in the country come to compete against the Virginia Tech Hokies. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and quiet. Hotel is within walking distance of many good restaurants and Virginia Tech campus.

The Main Street Inn is close to the university and many restaurants. We stayed there recently when visiting Virginia Tech and they were very helpful and friendly. The room itself was very large and offered a separate living area from the bedroom. It was very clean and nicely styled and the bed was comfortable. They have limited on-site parking and we did have to park in a different area across the street but overall it wasn't a huge inconvenience and there is no charge for parking. The only thing that I noticed is when someone watches the bedroom television in an adjoining room you can hear it, this could be a problem if you're a light sleeper.

Clean rooms a bit noisy street traffic but can live with. Parking is bothersome across the street so don't forget anything in vehicle or cold spooky walk in middle of the night. Close to several restaurants and attractions. Overall would recommend

The room was in very good condition. Everything was very clean. Also the location was very convenient. The biscotti is also a nice touch.
