      • Puerto Iguazú
The final port of call in Argentina, tiny Puerto Iguazu stares across the confluence of the Rios Parana at both Brazil and Paraguay, and has lost most of its sense of community to all encompassing tourism. Now a well-connected stepping off point for visiting the falls, Puerto Iguazu’s only real positive sides come with safety and proximity to such a mammoth tourist draw; it’s largely a convenient spot for the locals to make a few bucks. But then again, with such a spectacular sight to be seen just down the road, the dull façade of the town itself is hardly reason enough not to go.

The Falls themselves, you see, are just monstrous. Taller than Niagara and twice as wide, they arch round a perfect woodland scene in a mammoth horseshoe shape, and consist of a total of 275 rapids down which 450,000 cubic feet of water flow every second during the rainy season. It’s nearly a 100-meter drop, and the falls are invariably surrounded by a striking rainbow of spray, and take some time to explore, due to the hefty split of the flow between numerous islands.

You can head out into the mist on a boat for an intimidating close up view, or head off into the untouched jungle surrounding the falls, and enjoy the forest trails and wilderness hikes. If you’ve got plenty of cash to spare, you can even hire yourself a helicopter and get right in the thick of things.

While you’re in Puerto Iguazu, it’s worth visiting the three-nation frontier, while there are a couple of interesting museums, too, like the Museum of Images of the Jungle, and the Mborore Museum. You can gamble a night away in the casino, too, or explore the wildlife at the Center for Bird Rehabilitation.

Most of all, though, you’ll just want to see the falls, which are so spectacular that plenty of visitors can’t resist heading over two days in a row. Puerto Iguazu might be far from spectacular, but it’s a more than adequate launching point, and that's probably how you'll treat it.

      • Foz do Iguaçu
Foz do Iguaçu is the westernmost city in the state of Parana. The inhabitants of the city are known as Iguaçuenses.

The city is located approximately 650 km west of Curitiba and is one of Brazil's most-frequented tourist destinations, famous for its waterfalls, Iguaçu Falls.

Iguaçu Falls have a flow capacity equal to three times that of Niagara Falls. Part of the falls are on the Brazilian side, the others are on the Argentine side, including the "Garganta do Diabo" which is the tallest.

Also worth seeing is Itaipu Dam, the second-largest generator of hydro-electric power in the world, in the Parana river, between Brazil and Paraguay.

Do not miss The Tríplice Fronteira location where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay meet. Each side has its own Marco (landmark).

        • Almost beyond description. The scale is hard to comprehend without actually being there. You have between 275-350 different waterfalls (depending on the time of year), stretched out over almost a mile wide, with some of them dropping almost 300 feet. When you are standing next to them the roar of the water is almost deafening. Definitely a bucket list item.
        • One of the great natural wonders of the world. You get to experience the falls up close and personal on the Argentinian side, witnessing the ferocity and energy of it all. We walked along balconies seeing many different angles of the falls.
        • Breathtaking in its 2,700 m width, stunning beauty and tremendous accessibility. The boat ride is a blast!! Literally had the waterfall falling into the boat. As I have read by others you need Argentina pesos. We used a guide, well worth it - they handled the trip from Brazil side and guided us through the park making it efficient and easy.
        • Great place to visit, definitely. But be prepared: The ticket to enter the park can only be paid in Argentinian Pesos, no Credit cards, No foreign currency, no anything. Inside the park you can pay almost anything by card... go figure... Be there early. really. If you want to book the long ride on the boats, you need to be there early. And it's worth it, really. If you come from the Brazilian side, or may take you well over an hour to get there. Customs are unpredictable, some minibus stop as well to change money. Inside the park you do need time, and you will have to walk. There is a train fit the main stretch to the devils throat, but it's a bit makeshift, far from fast and efficient and on busy days it's hopelessly overwhelmed. Don't trust any information about its frequency and departure times, it never worked on schedule when we were there. Take some water with you, as restaurants or shops may be far apart. Besides this, you really should go there and enjoy.
        • The most impressive falls I have ever seen. They are just... magnificent. Perfect. The Brazilian side has very nice views, and some short, accessible and fun trails to get close to the water. Every human being should go there at least once in their life. The city does not have a lot of places to go, though, so 3 days are more than enough.
