MadisonMadison is the capital city of Wisconsin and home to the flagship of the University of Wisconsin System, appropriately named the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Downtown Madison is situated on a isthmus between 2 lakes, Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. The university is situated on the southern shores of Lake Mendota. Walking and biking trails along the lakes make for great views and a perfect way to enjoy a spring, summer, or autumn day.
The university is connected to the capitol building by State Street, which is lined with bars, restaurants, espresso cafes, and shops. Madison has the reputation of being a liberal party town. The UW is often ranked as one of the top party schools in the nation.
Madison residents love the football, basketball, and hockey teams that represent the university: The Wisconsin Badgers. Each of the teams plays in an on-campus facility. Sports are very important to this city.
There are a great number of stores, bookstores and cafes on State Street. The street itself connects the Capitol with the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

OK so sometimes I fall backwards into a pile of manure and come up smelling like a rose. This was one of those notable occasions. We knew we were heading to Madison for the Art fair on the Square, and we wanted to bring Beauregard our 14 month old black lab. I found Hotel Red and decided to take a chance. We love this place! Great space, friendly helpful staff and we got to bring our best buddy Beau. This is the place for us in Badger town.

Great Location & Amenities” - I loved the room's balcony, amenities and the location was convenient for the conference I was attending. I was also able to get a nice bike ride in as the Southwest Commuter Path runs in front of the hotel which connects to many of the other city trails; it turned out to be a great way to explore Madison in a short period of time. The valet attendant (just for non-guests? - couldn't tell) was less than helpful when I arrived, but the rest of staff was very accommodating.

Very eclectic feel. Polished concrete floors, concrete ceilings. Nice staff, good bar and restaurant.

Modern and interesting hotel, great location to be in Madison but away from the craziness of downtown (stayed when it wasn't a game day). I could hear a little of people walking around at night, but it was not bad at all. I'd recommend this place.

Not a review of the hotel, but rather the restaurant, The Wise. The service became steadily worse the longer we were here. At the beginning, our waitress came by about every ten minutes to ask how we are doing. But by the end of the night, we were lucky to see our waitress around at all. We had to wait close to an hour to put our final order in and get our bill, and the place was practically empty. This was our second time here, and the service has been terrible both times. Would not recommend.
