    • Dordrecht
Dordrecht is the oldest city of Holland and has about 1000 monuments. You can reach Dordrecht by train, then you can take the bus to the center. Or you can walk (that takes you 10 minutes).

Near the station is, on the Spuiboulevard, the VVV office, where you can buy a city route, called "Rondje Dordt", it shows you the most important sights of the center. You also can take the Fast Ferry from Rotterdam, or the water bus. The atmosphere in Dordrecht is very lively, there are many shops, restaurants, cafes and people.

The most important building is The Big Church. The famous tower of the Big Church has the largest Carillon of Europe, winch consists of 64 bells. You always hear the Carillon in the city. The tower can be visit the whole year and after 275 steps, you have a wonderful view of Dordrecht. The inside of the church is also very beautiful and impressive, with the world-famous organ. The tower weights about 12 million kilo.

One of the museums in Dordrecht is the Simon van Gijn museum, it`s a house museum. Simon was a rich banker and collector of a surprising collection of arts, crafts and toys from the 19th century. When he died he left his house to Dordrecht. When you walk into his house, you get a taste of how the upper classes lived a hundred years ago. The rooms are packed with collected items, just as in Simon van Gijn`s own lifetime. The museum is open year round from 11.00 – 17.00 every day, except Monday. Adults pay 6 euro, kids are free.

    • Kaatsheuvel
Kaatsheuvel is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is situated along the highways N261 and N628, and with a population of roughly 16,600, it is the largest village in the municipality Loon op Zand, which also consists of De Moer and Loon op Zand. Kaatsheuvel is also the capital of the municipality because the town hall is located here.

Kaatsheuvel's main attraction is "De Efteling" a theme park which is based on fairy tales. One of the founders was Anton Pieck. The Efteling is the largest theme park in The Netherlands, and as it opened in 1952, it is one of the oldest theme parks in the world. The Efteling is located in the town of Kaatsheuvel, in the municipality of Loon op Zand, and has received over 100 million visitors. In 1992 Efteling received the IAAPA Applause Award for Best Amusement Park in the World.

Originally the park catered towards children with a fairy tale theme. In over fifty years the park has evolved from a nature park with playground and a Fairy Tale Forest, into a full-size theme park along the lines of Disneyland. It is twice as large as the original Disneyland park and predates it by three years. Nowadays, the Efteling appeals to both young and old with its cultural, romantic and nostalgic themes and its variety of amusement rides.

Efteling 'officially' opened on May 31, 1952, when the Fairy Tale Forest (het Sprookjesbos), designed by the famous Dutch illustrator Anton Pieck, was declared open. Initially, the Fairy Tale Forest was home to some ten different fairy tales, all of them brought to life using original drawings by Anton Pieck alongside ingenious movements and lighting and sound effects designed by the Dutch film maker Peter Reijnders. The life-size fairy tales, displayed together in an atmospheric forest, proved to be an enormous success. In 1952 alone Efteling welcomed 240,000 visitors.

There is some debate about whether May 31, 1952, was the actual start of Efteling: some argue that 1950 should be considered the official year of the park's establishment, since in that year Stichting Natuurpark de Efteling, or Efteling Nature Park Foundation, was founded. Others prefer 1953, when Efteling was declared 'open' by a government official, coinciding with the opening of the park's second large restaurant facility that still exists as De Ballonvaarder.

If you want to enjoy the magic for more than 1 day, you can spend one or more nights in the Efteling hotel or bungalowpark.

    • Tilburg

Everybody is welcome in Tilburg, the 'heart of Brabant'. Whether you would like to wander through the beautiful nature which surrounds the city or want to visit a museum, Tilburg has a lot to offer. Fancy a concert or a movie? It's all possible. But there are also many chances for studying, working and living over here.

Having more than 200,000 inhabitants, Tilburg is a versatile city that is growing and renewing in the suburbs and the centre.

Culture is an important issue in Tilburg. Although the city doesn't have many material examples of a rich cultural history, it has a lot to offer. Almost every evening you can enjoy live shows in the centre: popmusic in 013, jazz in Paradox, classical music in the Concertzaal and performing arts in the Stadsschouwburg.

On Wednesday nights during the summer vacation there are so called 'muses-concerts' at the university campus. Free concerts of well known artists in The Netherlands and Belgium. Next to that, there's the 'Kermis' (Fair) every July. It lasts for ten days and is one of the biggest fairs in Europe. Tilburg is also an excellent place to celebrate 'Carnaval'. Carnaval lasts four days (the exact dates change every year), Tilburg has a nice Carnaval Parade on Sunday afternoon.

Throughout the town you will notice the several red colored cycle tracks. The development of the city fortunately has not been at the expense of the scenery. Tilburg has many woods and parks like the Wandelbos, Oude Warande, Leypark and Wilhelminapark.

Historically, Tilburg is a worker's city, dominated by the textile industry. In the Textile Museum you can find more details. In the 70's unfortunately most of the old buildings were demolished to make way for more modern houses. So there is no cosy old center as in many other Dutch cities. Much of the architecture is new.

      • Great place to stay, or just to go get a drink. Excellent choice of wines which you can pick and taste for yourself before buying a bottle.
      • The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was excellent! It was only strange that after checking in, you have to walk to another building down the street to get to your room. The rooms are actually at Hotel Huis Ten Bosch. We had some issues with noise, as they started construction at 7am with no warning, but hopefully that is not s common experience.
      • Rooms are basic and customer service could be improved. Moreover, there is a DIY breakfast, and I don't mean simply a buffet-style one. If you want scrambled eggs, you have to cook it yourself.
      • Hotel room very average, restaurant was nice, the bar was also nice, worth more than 3 stars but not 4 in my opinion. All in all a bit expensive.
      • Nice service and Customized food and especially Vegetarian food available, Restaurant chef having good experience. By Sathiyamoorthy.D from Bangalore,India
