      • Makati
The City of Makati, or simply Makati, is one of the cities and municipalities that make up Metro Manila or the National Capital Region of the Philippines. It is the major financial, commercial and economical hub in the Philippines.

Makati came from the Tagalog word kati, which means tide. This primarily refers to the rise and ebb of the tide of the Pasig River on the city's northern border. The city was also known as San Pedro Macati during the Spanish era.

Makati is also noted for its highly cosmopolitan culture, also being a major cultural and entertainment hub in Metro Manila. This is where you can find all the posh malls offering signature brands and vibrant nightlife.

Today the city is one of the most modern cities in the country and the Philippines' major global economic competitor in Southeast Asia. However, it faces challenges due to the disparate gap between the new city in the west, which contains the Central Business District, and the old city in the east, which is largely poor and where most of the city's slums are located.

Makati has the tallest skyscrapers in Metro Manila. Also, this city is the first to test the hybrid bus services and e-jeepney.

Being the former capital of Philippines, the city has many government offices such as the seat of the House of Representatives, Batasang Pambansa that is the lower chamber in the country’s congress. The two main important and high ranked universities, the University of the Philippines and the Atendo de Manila University are located in the city.

        • Plan your groceries before buying so you can maximize your savings here. The price is considered cheap since most of the time you're buying at bulk, but your 5-10k php here is small if you don't know what you need. Definitely must try their Pizza!
        • This is a great place for bulk deals on necessities and your favorite snacks. Shopping carts are huge, wide, and heavy. Place is really spacious. After shopping, you can buy some beef rolls, pizza, fried chicken, and ice-cream.
        • Good place to get your groceries. Prices are very competitive if not lower than major supermarkets.
        • S&R Go Big! If you have a big family this is the right place for you, you can even bring the whole family. I buy almost everything at S&R, love their produce section. I usually do my shoppings at night with my family, my kids always look forward for our once a week shop at S&R. Weekdays are the best time to do your shopping, no long lines and finding a parking slot is not a hustle. Dont forget to grab something to eat at the food court, order a whole box of pizza or go for the hotdog combo.
        • Situated beside Dept. of Foreign Affairs, S&R boasts of a huge parking area. It's usually windy during late afternoons to early evenings. The inside is the typical S&R setup. Membership card is required to shop. They regularly offer items for sale or at discounted prices. You'll benefit from shopping here if you usually buy in bulk and in huge quantities. Don't forget to take out a whole pizza or dine in.
