• Bellingham

  Bellingham is the biggest city in Whatcom County, as well as the 10th largest city in the state of Washington. The city's population is about 74,440. It has a large student population, as it is home to Western Washington University and several smaller community and technical colleges.
  
  Located on Bellingham Bay, Bellingham is surrounded by Lummi Island, Portage Island, and the Lummi Peninsula, and opens onto the Strait of Georgia. It lies west of Mount Baker and Lake Whatcom from which the city gets its drinking water. Chuckanut Mountains and Skagit Valley are located north of Lake Whatcom. Whatcom Creek runs through the center of the city.
  
  Bellingham's climate can generally be described as "mild." The rainy season can last as long as eight months or more, it is usually about six months long, leaving Bellingham with a picturesque late spring and mild, pleasant summer. Bellingham receives an average annual rainfall of 34.8 inches.
  
  In terms of transportation it is well located. It has Bellingham Airport which offers low-cost flights around the Western US as well as Hawaii and Alaska. In addition its possible to get a ferry to Alaska from Bellingham as well as transportation links to the Anacortes ferry nearby. It is close to Vancouver and Seattle so it could be considered a mini transport hub in the region.

  With a hefty reputation as a great place to move and settle down - topped off by a mammoth level of international immigration - in many ways Vancouver is like city meets rugged outdoor adventure park. You won't find much in the way of historic sights: this is a modern city that began it's journey only a touch over a century and a half ago, and you'll be startled by its striking rate of progress. In amongst the city sights you’ll find craggy mountains, pebbled beaches, forested waterfronts and a sense that the outdoors is every bit as important as the modern, glassy city interior.
  
  Despite it’s rustic outlook, though, Vancouver’s also a great place to wallow in luxury. If you do chose the latter, be sure to head up Grouse Mountain for a panoramic overview, as well as clambering over the dizzy heights of the quivering Capilano Suspension Bridge, from which you can eye the Douglas Firs and try to keep your vertigo in check 70 meters above the river.
  
  The city’s botanical gardens are spectacular – be sure to check out the colors of the VanDusen – while you’ll find the sporadic historic influences creeping into this modern town, like trams and aging fishing boats, make for charming additions, and keep the streets interesting.
  
  Skiing, fishing, eco-tours, snowmobiles, whale watching, skydiving and bungee jumping will keep adventure lovers happy, while the locals famed aversion to staying at home in the evenings makes for an equally alluring entertainment scene, which draws in everything from sport and rock music to dance and performance arts. The city’s symphony orchestra is particularly notable, as is the Fringe Festival, which annually welcomes a plethora of offbeat influences to Vancouver’s many stages.
  
  The world’s about to be inundated with images from this impressive city during the 2010 Winter Olympics, so if you’re planning a visit, head over soon and beat the rush, or come and join in the party itself. Once the pictures hit the world’s screens, Vancouver will no doubt become a far larger fixture on the world tourism map than it's already managed to pull off. It's difficult to argue that the increased reputation won't be justified.

  No half stars but 3.5 I give Newlands Golf Club overall start to finish. Our bartender/server before our round was very friendly and engaging so he gets a 5 star rating but after our round the early eve gal not as personable or engaging. This goes a long way with us. Gal in pro shop was much more engaging than older gent. The greens are nicely kept and maintained but so super dry and very hard fairways to play off of, not sure if on purpose but too dry for a course of this magnitude. Course challenge though a 9 out of 10. More washrooms on course are needed and cart gal was MIA entire round! Beer sales would only increase seeing her out and about and we saw the marshal just once and near the end. With friendlier staff in place and not so dry fairways with many dirt patches to play off of, this course could easily be a 4/4.5 as the challenge level is high and I played well and scored well but would have even had a lower score not playing off of dirt and very very hard fairways.

  The venue is very beautiful and located at a golf course. I attended a wedding there and let me tell you, it was amazing. The food was super delicious from many types of appetizers to entrees to a wide selection of deserts. The service from. The servers were tentative and on par. They have a very reasonable wedding package and don't make you feel rushed at all even though the schedule was running late. Even an ice sculpture was included!! Everything about this wedding was a hole in one!!

  Amazing staff! Best friend's wedding and we had some super last minute requests which were handled very quickly and successfully. Great venue, I would definitely have my wedding here. :)

  Attended a best friend's wedding and can't say it was the best experience with the courtyard being a little awkward for a wedding set-up. Worse part was when it came time to do a large group photo, we were told the photographers can go up to the balcony that overlooks the courtyard but then was told last minute only THEIR photographers had the keys. Luckily the photographers were extreme professionals and managed to make do with our large group. We'll have to see how the picture eventually turns out but overall, if you're looking to do a ceremony outside, best consider a different location. The reception room was good besides the fact that as the day is winding down, the sun comes in right at your face if you're facing the windows. And with no blinds to cover the sun, you're in agony until the sun goes down. Aside from that, the service and food was amazing. The problems mentioned above certainly didn't take away from the fact that the wedding was absolutely beautiful.

  Tonight was our first experience here for karaoke night. The service is great. The food is delicious, our waitress pulled double duty as bartender and made the perfect Caesar, thanks Laura. The karaoke host was friendly and professional on top of having a great sound.

  Brunch buffet is pretty good. Omelette chefs lack experience; couldn't fold omelette without breaking it, threw some off the plate, and just not very attentive. Waitress was great. Coffee surprisingly not included in price. I've also played golf here. It's a hard but good course. But I'm an amateur so not much else to say.
